I only have a minute to write... but we made it to Thailand!! The trip was very loooong, but we survived. We arrived at our hotel at around 1am bangkok time and were able to get some sleep right away, which I think helped as far as jet lag-- i also think that working graves the last few weeks before we left helped me as well... i got used to being able to get sleep when i could so having my days turned around didn't mess with my schedule.
Our first day here we had
to meet up with our tour group at 6 pm so we had the whole day to spend in the city. We walked a few blocks to Khoa Son road, which is a long street filled with many vendors on either side selling just about everything you can think of, we had to contain ourselves so we wouldn't buy everything, we have 5 more weeks and many more places to go, but there was so much cool stuff! We were also able to walk to a temple nearby called Wat Pho, there is a HUGE buddist statue that is laying on its side, its called reclinging buddha (whoda thunk) The temple and the ground were amazing, so much detail went in to making all the statues and buildings.. we were loving looking at everything.
We did have a bit of a learning experience walking along the streets.. as we were walking some local people were trying to give us bags of corn, they just keep putting it in our hands, we keep walking and trying to give it back to them, but they just kept gesturing for us the feed the pigeons and then poured the seed into our hands... so we feed the birds and they took a picture for us... then, of course, as soon as we started to walk away they all gathered around us demanding money.. overall we lost around 460 baht, which is roughly $13... oh well, we learned our lesson...
Come to think of it, yesterday was a day for learing experiences... i also forgot to wear sunscreen and my arms are fried... i won't forget again!
My time is limited, so thats all i have time for today... we are gettig ready to load up on a bus soon and head to a place called Kanchanaburi, we are staying right by the river and are planning to rent some scooters tomorrow to drive to the tiger temple...
